WPO elected new President at Interpack

The election happened during the Board Meeting. Stockholm (Sweden), June 2011 During its first Board Meeting of 2011, on May 17th at Interpack (Germany), WPO (World Packaging Organization) elected its new President for the next three years (2012-2014). Thomas Schneider, from IoPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals), US, has been a very active member of the Organization and one of its Vice Presidents for the last two years. He was elected in the presence of members of WPO from 30 different countries. Tom Schneider is a Certified Packaging Professional, a member of the College of Fellows and Honorary Life Member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (Iopp). He was active in IoPP’s national organization for many years, including serving as President and Chairman.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. Tom was National Sales Manager for the Marsh
Company from 1978 to 1982, during which time he was a strategic participant in the introduction of the Printos Marsh LCP/1000,
the first large character ink jet printer introduced successfully into the world market. He became President of Printos Marsh Corporation in 1983.

For the last 15 years Tom has served as President of Industrial & Shippers
Supply, a 57 year old value-added distributor of packaging and labeling
systems and supplies, based in Houston (US). Concurrently, he recently
completed 9 years of experience directing a package testing laboratory,
also based in Houston. He served as a member of PMMI’s Packaging Hall
of Fame selection commission in 2004.

The Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS) and Singapore Packaging Agreement (SPA) have put together an elite organising committee to rally the Asian packaging industry to meet current packaging challenges, build bridges and drive sales through sustainable packaging.

The Packaging Institute of the Philippines (PIP), in its mission to contribute to the improvement of the condition of the Filipino deaf-youth, has partnered with LINK Center for the Deaf (LCD), a non-government organization committed to the empowerment and integration of people who are deaf in the mainstream of society to a benefit show entitled:
"The Rhythm Within" on June 11, 2009 (7:00pm) at Teatro Aguinaldo
(AFP Theater), Santolan, Quezon City.

The dance concert aims to educate the public about deaf people thereby breaking stereotypes and making the public aware that deaf people are not different from everyone else. The show features the scholars of the LINK Center for the Deaf performing together with their members and peers from the Quezon City Performing Arts Development Foundation.
